On the afternoon of April 14, 2024, the Department of Finance of our college successfully held a special lecture on financial major guidance and college students' career planning in Classroom 1620 of Wenjin Building on the Chang'an Campus. All teachers of the Department of Finance and all students of the 2023 grade from the International Business School attended the lecture, which was hosted by Teacher Liang Si, Director of the Department of Finance.

Against the background of the rapid development of artificial intelligence and the current downward pressure on China's economy, this special activity aimed to help students objectively and rationally analyze and reasonably carry out their academic and career planning. Based on their understanding of the financial discipline, teachers from the Department of Finance shared their views with the students around this theme. First, Teacher Liang Si briefly introduced the establishment history of the Department of Finance, its strong faculty, and its reasonable and comprehensive curriculum setup to the students. Professor Pei Huiru delivered a keynote report entitled "Career Choice in the Context of Artificial Intelligence". The report was detailed and objective, helping students formulate career plans in the context of artificial intelligence, combining their own advantages with the objective requirements of economic development. With solid academic foundation and rich financial industry experience, Professor Miao Wenlong demonstrated the nature and professional characteristics of the financial discipline, reminding students to choose their majors objectively and calmly, not to follow the trend blindly, and encouraging them to work hard to create their own bright future. Teachers Cao Peishen and Hu Qiuling shared the importance of major selection and their insights in cultivating students with their nearly 40 years of teaching experience, cheering up the students. Teacher Huo Yuanyuan discussed with everyone based on her cross-major learning experience that finance is a "down-to-earth and top-notch" discipline with a scientific theoretical foundation and broad practical soil, as well as an industry with "great potential". Teacher Li Shujuan shared her experience in guiding students' employment, discussing the rich employment channels and broad employment prospects of finance.

This special lecture also invited Liu Zikou, an outstanding graduate of the 2015 grade from the Department of Finance, and Deng Dantong, a student representative of the 2021 grade (junior year), to share their learning experiences and insights. Outstanding graduate Liu Zikou introduced his experiences and insights in studying in the Department of Finance, as well as some experiences in postgraduate recommendation and postgraduate studies to his younger brothers and sisters. Undergraduate representative Deng Dantong shared the faculty, curriculum system, employment direction of the Department of Finance and her prospects for the future of the Department of Finance mainly from the perspective of current undergraduates.

After the forum, the participating students said that they not only had a rational and objective understanding of the financial discipline, but also had new ideas and thoughts on their own academic and career planning. The participating teachers also said that carrying out professional guidance in the form of special lectures can not only make the shared content more focused, but also provide more targeted help and suggestions for students, and they also gained a lot in the process of interacting with teachers and students.
